Death Note

Death Note is currently a manga series that's being published by the Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan. It's a new manga series in 2004. The art is done by Obata Takeshi and the story is by Ooba Tsugumi. As some of you might know, Obata Takeshi is the artist for the popular Shonen manga Hikaru no Go.

Death Note is about a high school honor student called Raito, who found a notebook called "Death Note". According to the instructions in the book, it said that if you put a person's real name in the book under various rules, the person will die. It ends up that it's the notebook of a Shinigami (God of Death), Ryuuku's. Ryuuku offered to let Raito keep the death note, because he is amused that Raito had already put countless names on the book after only one day. Raito, on the other hand, only put criminal's names, he thinks that the world is rotting, and he wants to clean up this world. To Raito, he is the justice. Also, the sudden deaths of many criminals alerted the autorities around the world. A mysterious yet world top class detective named "L" decided to investigate this case in the name of justice. Raito isn't someone whom they can simply catch. With the power of Death Note, and Raito's outstanding intelligence, a battle between two different justices begins...

Death Note's plot develops several surprises and twists that you'll never expect. It's just a manga that's so unpredictable. And the second part of Death Note is now starting in March, 2005.
